Mike Barry and Mike Thomas announced to the players that they will be joining a new premier Central Ohio club, FC42.  FC42 will compete in the same leagues as the current Thunder teams.

In addition, Mike Barry will continue to coach a U-14 team, who will of course be U-15 next fall, and Mike Thomas will coach a U-18 team.  All current players and parents can find more information, including a tryout schedule, at FC42's website:

Thunder U-17 vs. Commonwealth SC at MASC tournament
The U-17 team defeated Rockers FC from Warren, OH, the 8th ranked Ohio Premier from Ohio North, both 3-1 on Saturday to set themselves up for a chance to qualify for finals.

On Sunday, the team played the 6th ranked team from Canada, Oakville '94, needing a win or tie to advance.  After a hard-fought contest, Thunder played to a 0-0 tie and advanced to the finals.

Their tournament ended without a championship, but a loss to the FOSC Red Storm, currently ranked in the top 5 in Ohio South, and possessors of 23 wins and 0 losses this year (3 draws) is no reason to hang their head.

Next tournament for the U-17s is the President's Cup against the Warren County Thunder United.

Many times parents wonder how to best help their athlete enjoy their sport.  I found the following article to be very instructive.  I really wish I had followed its principles from very early on.

by posted 01/05/2012

Hey, Thunder players, looking for a proven goal-scoring form?  See the following video of Thunder SC Technical Director Mike Barry from the Top 6 Goals in the English Premier League 1976!  Be careful, though, it's now Mike, not Mick!  Mike's goal is around the 2:10 mark of the video.
